Ever wish you could share information broadly within your organization without emailing everyone? Ever wish you could keep the pulse of what people in your organization think is interesting? OfficeTalk is a concept test that explores the value of microblogging in the enterprise. The goals of OfficeTalk are to understand scenarios enabled by a microblogging platform and to gather data to help inform future Microsoft efforts focused on microblogging.
In the current version of OfficeTalk we introduce new ways to participate in the company-wide conversation. Our users can now contribute more easily to the discussion on the website and via email. For those who choose to participate by consuming the information, discovering the hot conversation topics, most interesting people and exciting events is now made easy with the highlights area.
Since we announced OfficeTalk in March, a few select customers have deployed OfficeTalk as part of a small pilot program the team is running. An OfficeTalk server is hosted within each customer’s corporate network so that they can retain control over their own data. Our research team is working with these customers to understand usage patterns and scenarios, and better pinpoint the specific user value. You can read about some of our initial research outcomes in our blog post. For those who were interested in joining the OfficeTalk pilot, the pilot is no longer accepting nominations. Thank you to all of those who expressed interest. |
